With pride, we would like to inform you about an important adjustment within our company.

You are familiar with BRS BV as a reliable supplier of laboratory instruments, consumables, and services. In the past decade, we have established two specialized business units to fully focus on their specific markets:

  • AddSPX – X-Ray Element and Structure Analysis
  • BioSPX – Cell Analysis, Molecular Biology, and Automation in the Life Science.

This renewed focus, with separate sales and product specialists, has significantly increased our market share and reputation.

Now, it is time to take the final step in our Support and Product Xpert strategy. On September 1st, 2023, we have founded two specialized business units within BRS, namely SciSPX (formerly BRS Analysis) and ChemSPX (formerly BRS Chemistry).

  • SciSPX, part of BRS: our sales engineers and product specialists provide advice and training to customers in the field of sample preparation and analysis in Analytical Chemistry and QC labs in the industry. Visit scispx.com for more information.
  • ChemSPX, part of BRS: this business unit sell and support instruments for synthesis, chromatography, thermostats, and process support in the field of Chemical Synthesis and Organic Chemistry. Visit chemspx.com for more information.

This change does not affect the quality and reliability of our products and services, nor our commitment to providing the best service to our customers.

What will change?

We would like to emphasize that despite this change, our VAT number will remain unchanged. On our website, the instruments have been moved to www.chemspx.com and www.scispx.com.

You can reach us by phone at;

ChemSPX;          +32 (0)2 334 22 70 and at [email protected]

SciSPX;               +32 (0)2 334 22 70 and at [email protected]

If you have any questions about this change, we are ready to answer them. We would like to thank you for your trust in our company and look forward to continuing to serve you.

Sterilize or pasteurize your cooked product and define its shelf life

Sterilizing or pasteurizing your cooked food products is extremely important. If it’s not done properly, you’re putting the health of your consumers and your own reputation at risk.

But when you start a new recipe, it’s not always easy to define the best time and temperature to sterilize or pasteurize your product, without altering its taste properties. Not to mention calculating the shelf life of your product.

That’s why, in collaboration with BRUCEFO (Brussels Centre for Food Expertises), we’re offering demonstrations using the Terra Food autoclave. In the same laboratory, you can also request a microbiological study, and receive advice on the labeling your products.

More info? You will find all the details and a request form on this page: https://www.brs.be/brucefo-and-brs-for-your-food-project/

Diamonds are forever but so are PFAS/PFOS

PFAS is used in the manufacture of various products due to its oil / water / temperature / chemical , and fire resistance. Due to their chemical stability, these “permanent chemicals” are used in products ranging from non-stick cookware to electronic equipment and low-emission automobiles. As these items are disposed of, PFAS will become contaminated and accumulate in soil and water sources.

Human exposure to these persistent chemicals can cause effects on the immune system, cancer, thyroid dysfunction, and other diseases.

PFAS repair is largely impossible, so accurate PFAS analysis is essential for public safety. In the laboratory, PFAS analysis is difficult because PFAS-free ingredients are essential for accurate analysis. From sample homogenizing equipment to extraction systems to liquid chromatography systems, everything should be PFAS-free. CEM discusses the homogenization and extraction schemes of various substrates to optimize the recovery rate in the webinar below, including the LC method and the results of these studies.

BRS participates in Think Pink’s Pink Walk in May. The Pink Walk is an annual event organised to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness. The goal here is for each member of the team to take 10,000 steps a day.

In our view, the Pink Walk is an important event because, on the one hand, it creates awareness about breast cancer – one of the most widespread cancers in women – and raises money for cancer research.  On the other hand, it highlights the need for exercise. It is a unique opportunity to take up this challenge together with colleagues and strive for 10,000 steps a day together.

BRS’s decision to participate in the Pink Walk shows that our company not only pursues revenue but also values social responsibility and commitment.  We are concerned about the health of the community and we show that by fighting against breast cancer.

Finally, we would like to emphasise that every step and deed counts in the fight against cancer. Research costs money, and we are determined to raise that by taking part in the Pink walk.

Will you join us?

How does it work?
  1. Go to the Pink Walk platform and sign up individually, as a team or with your business and support Pink Ribbon.
  2. Connect your pedometer with the platform or enter the number of steps manually.
  3. The Pink Walk platform simply registers all the steps you walk throughout the month of May. Pink Ribbon adds them up for you and shows you the results. This way you can track your progress individually, or with your team or business and compare your results with those of other participants.

This year, Laborama is back in March!

Can this be a sign of some sort of back to normal?

Laborama2023logoThe 23rd edition of Laborama will take place on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 March 2023 in Hall 3 of Brussels Expo.

Besides the full-fledged physical fair, there will also be an interesting program: a 2-day congress with interesting speakers and an exclusive networking event complete the program.

As always, all sectors associated with the laboratory sector are well represented. This makes LABORAMA the must-see exhibition for laboratory technology in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Our booth (D11)

We will present some of our novelties, like instruments of Particle Works, brand we started to work with in the end of 2022. But also the new CEM Blade, the AGI filter reactor and other surprises. Stay tuned, we will tell you more about it in the upcoming weeks.

This year our product specialist Mathias Elsocht will be showing the LNP production in real life on the ANP system of Particle Works. We know you don’t want to miss it, so be there on:

  •  Thursday 16/03   11.00   and   14.30
  •  Friday 17/03         11.00

In the meantime, don’t forget to register here.

Join us for this webinar on 15/02/2023 at 02:00 PM

Did you miss the webinar, or you want to see it again? The recording is available here

A majority of flash purifications are performed on bare silica with simple solvent systems. But when your first choice for a separation doesn’t work, what are your options for achieving a successful purification?

During this 45-minute webinar plus Q&A session, Joshua Lovell, Teledyne ISCO product line manager—Pharma R&D Products, will discuss several alternative stationary phases to silica (C18, C18Aq, Amine, C8, Alumina) that are available for flash purifications. He’ll even include application examples of their utility. He will also discuss different tools on the CombiFlash® NextGen chromatography units that enable the use of different solvent systems.

  • You’ll learn what range of stationary phases are available and how to choose appropriate stationary and mobile phases for tough separations.
  • You’ll also learn how to use tools on the CombiFlash NextGen system that help expand the number of available solvents for flash separations and how to protect your investment with proper care of alternative stationary phase columns that are reusable, saving your lab money in the long run.

We hope you can join us for this educational opportunity to speak with chromatography expert Joshua Lovell about your specific applications. Just register here, and we’ll see you then!
